With profound sadness, we say goodbye to William Charles Sawyer Jr. of Canton, Georgia, born in Cuthbert, Georgia, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. William left this world on May 13, 2026 at the age of 93, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his wife JoAnn Sawyer; his children, Patty Sawyer Shellhouse and William Charles "Chuck" Sawyer III; and his sisters, Iris Sawyer Schmitt and Marcella Sawyer Lee.
He is survived by: his children, Bruce Sawyer of Smyrna, GA., Linda Sawyer Flournoy (J. T.) of Ft. Valley, GA. and Tony Sawyer (Sherri) of Cassa Grande, AZ; his grandchildren, Stephanie Sawyer, Eric Sawyer, Amy Sawyer Long, John Flournoy of Kelsee Sawyer, A. J, Samantha Sawyer Sumsky, Chuck Sawyer and Destiny Sawyer; and his daughter Jo Ann Jorgensen (Ray). He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren, and a loving caretaker.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the West Cobb Funeral Home and Crematory (2480 Macland Rd, Marietta, GA 30064). A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the Georgia National Cemetery (1080 Scott Hudgens Dr, Canton, GA 30114).
