He was predeceased by: his parents, Inez Ellis and Jimmy Stephens of Woodland, Alabama.; his sons, Reginald Ellis and Walter Ellis; and his siblings, Edward Ellis, Eva Mae Vaughn and Pearlie Keith.
He is survived by: his wife Sally Ellis; his sisters, Laura Kight (Aaron) and Jeradine Farmer; and his children, Billy Ellis, Shawn Ellis (Cicely), Colleen Ellis, Pam Short (Brandon), Alice Boykin, Deadra Ellis and Marian Herring (Brandon). He is also survived by 16 grandkids, a host of Great Grandkids, Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.
