It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ernest C. McClendon (Carrollton, Georgia), who passed away on August 18, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Ernest C. McClendon to pay them a last tribute.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Rupert McClendon and Adell Bassett McClendon; and his brothers-in-law, William Howard of Thomson and H. L. McCright of Carrollton, Georgia.. He is survived by: his wife Doris Howard of Dearing, Georgia.; his children, Emily McClendon Calk (Wayne) of North Augusta, SC, Jeffrey E. McClendon of Denver, CO and Rebecca McClendon MacArthur (Tom) of Saint Marys, GA.; his grandchildren, Chris Shelly Julia Shelly (Magda), Dr. Ian Calk, Gareth Calk, Paul McClendon Jacob McClendon (Alissa), Anna McClendon, Mortimer "Mo" MacArthur, Jonathan MacArthur David MacArthur (Cassie) and Charlie MacArthur; his great grandchildren, Noah Shelly, Mary Shelly, Abigail Shelly, Seth Shelly, Rhett McClendon and Zelda Anne MacArthur; and his sisters-in-law, Beth McCright, Vickie Howard and Marjorie Cole (Bob). He is also survived by nieces, nephews and their children and many special neighbors, friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to the Dr. Ernest C. McClendon Band Fund through the Carrollton City Schools Education Foundation, 106 Trojan Drive, Carrollton, GA 30117.
