It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Joan Coker (Carrollton, Georgia), born in Tallapoosa, Georgia, who passed away on November 17, 2022, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, S. E. Godwin and Vesta Owens Godwin; her husband Dr. Homer Coker; her siblings, Carroll B. Godwin and Janet G. Meyer; her stepsons, Thomas A. Coker, Sr. (Jere) and Dr. Michael D. Coker (Rose); her siblings, Marilyn Downey (Bob), Randall Godwin (Gail) and Lane Godwin (Gail); her sister-in-law Glenda Myers; her nieces and nephews, Georgia Bell (Kay), Jaye Evans (Mark), Tammy Hildebrand (Eric), Jenny Godwin, Derek Downey, Brandt Godwin, Richard Godwin (Debbie) and Nathan Meyer; her grandchildren, Thomas Coker, Jr. (Katie), Elizabeth Coker Hamlett (Brad), Sallie Coker Sexton (Andy), Katherine Chaffin Stahl (Dave), Dr. Amanda Chaffin Forehand (Trey) and Curt Chaffin (Lindsay Hurley); and her great grandchildren, Thomas Coker III, Anne Louise, Mary Beth Hamlett, Gus, Honea Mae Sexton, Bridget, David Stahl and Anna Claire Forehand. She was also cherished by three step-grandchildren and three cousins.
