He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Cooper Dowda and Effie Mae Dowda (Newton); his siblings, Robert Dowda and Ellen Sisson; his wife Bernice Dowda; his daughters, Cathy Thompson and Debbie Shipp; and his granddaughter Courtney Shipp.
He is survived by: his sons, Mike Dowda (Lorri Dowda), Wesley Dowda (Deborah Dowda), Greg Welch (Wendy Welch), Charles Welch and Rick McCuiston. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
