He was predeceased by: his father Chester Robert Mitchell; and his nephew Steven Mitchell. He is survived by: his mother Mildred Burson Smith; his wife Lisa Cole Mitchell; his children, Chris Mitchell, William "Bill" Mitchell and Tabitha Teal; his granddaughter Riley Mitchell; and his sisters, Carolyn Blythe, Cathy Rogers, Margaret Mitchell and Robin Langley. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
