He was predeceased by: his parents, Grady Farmer and Ethel Merinda Pitts; his wife Victoria "Vicky" Johnson Farmer; his children, Jimmy Robert "Bubba" Hornsby and Alisha Shaw; and his siblings, Laverne Hammond and Earl Farmer.

He is survived by: his children, Thomas Elbert Farmer, Jr. of Tallapoosa, Patricia Gail O'Shields of Dallas, Michael Dewayne Farmer of Carrollton and Misty Rose Carter of Carrollton. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
