He was predeceased by: his parents, Ellis Jerald and Ellen Simpson Owens; his grandparents, Otis, Rheta Simpson, Maggie Keaton and Thomas Byrd Owens; and his nephew David Oliver.

He is survived by: his wife Mary Couch Owens; and his sisters, Karen Nichols (James) and Charlene Oliver. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great and great-grand nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mary Owens for a memorial tribute in Allen's honor.
