She is survived by: her husband Leroy Carter; her sister Leola Wilkey (Earl, Jr.); her son Christopher Brewer; her stepchildren, Jeffrey McDaniels, Darlene Carter Bryant, Alisa Carter, Stephanie Wilkins (Billy) and Chrissy Fisher; her siblings-in-law, Annie Bell Carter Sanders, Joan Harris Carter, Shirley Lowe, Cora Lowe, Melvin Lowe and James Moore; and her close friends, Ruthie and James "JJ" Jones. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
