She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry Vernon and Nola Vernon-Stone; her husband James Carter (Jim); her siblings, William, Harvey, Hank, Ralph Vernon and Brenda Vernon-Ball; her grandson George Campbell; and her great grandchild Matthew Barnes.
She is survived by: her daughters, Donna Carter of Cartersville, Georgia, Janice Campbell of Cartersville, Georgia, Betty Thurman (Danny) of Cartersville, Georgia and Rhonda Perry of Cartersville, Georgia; her sister Paula Vernon-Cunningham; her siblings-in-law, Penny, Voncille Vernon and O. B. Carter; and her grandchildren, Dale, Angela, Jannifer, Lesley, Daniel, Katie and Crystal. She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
