He was predeceased by: his parents, James Abernathy and Irene Abernathy; and his brother Allen Abernathy. He is survived by: his wife Rita Fay Abernathy; his daughters, Jamie Nicole Abernathy and Marsha Ingram (Erick); his brother Chuck Abernathy (Connie); his grandchildren, Cameron Ingram, Morgan Ingram and Emily Ingram; his siblings-in-law, Wanda Hunton (Ron), Kathy Bennett (Hank) and Sam Gravley; and his pets, Bug and Sadie. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins.
