He was predeceased by: his parents, Sanford Joshua Owens and Artie Marie Owens (Goins); and his niece Rebecca "Becky" Kimberly (Tolnai). He is survived by: the mother of his children Joan Hensley Owens; his children, Gwendolyn Owens and Jeremy Owens; his grandchildren, Randi Mullins (Tommy), Rachel Calvin, Richard Owens III, Rebekah Owens and Adalynn Reece; his great grandchildren, Patrick "Patch" Smith, Nicholas "Nick" Calvin and Caspian "Cas" Owens; his siblings, Anna "Annie" Tolnai (Gabor) and Charles Owens (Joyce); and his son Richard Owens Jr.. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, cousins.
