He is survived by: his daughter Melissa A. Vernie; his son-in-law William F. Cushist; his grandchildren, Ava, Ayden and Alex Cushist; his caregiver Mary Ellen Freeman; his brother Frank D. Vernie; his sister-in-law Sherrie Baxley; and his sister Michelle Vernie. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, November 14th 2026 at the Parkhill Cemetery (4161 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA 31907).
