He was predeceased by: his parents, John L. Payne and Maude Victoria Huckaby Payne; and his siblings, Carrie Webb, Gladys Jordan, Fannie Willingham, Allie Grimes, Betty Ann Hunt, Daniel Payne, John Payne, Jack Payne and Yancy Payne.
He is survived by: his wife Studdard Payne; his children, Jeff Payne (Jan), Gwen Carr (Jerry) and Lynn Garrett; his grandchildren, Courtney Verdier, Whitney Crumley, Josh Carr, Cody Carr, Brandy Alexander and Michelle White; his great grandchildren, Lilly Verdier, Elizabeth Verdier, Charlotte Crumley, Rhett Carr, Addi Carr, Briggs Carr, Tanner Alexander, Tatum Alexander and Cameron White; and his brother Tom Payne. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the Cave Spring Baptist Church (4 Cedartown St, Cave Spring, GA 30124). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
The family kindly requests that flowers be omitted and memorial contributions may be made to Cave Spring Baptist Church in his memory.
