He was predeceased by: his parents, Martin Woodrow Collins and Frances Winstead Collins; and his brother Roger D Collins. He is survived by: his wife Carollee Galavotti Collins; his children, Carol Mercer (Jim), Kim Rutledge (Trey), Wendy Stringer (Wade) and Jeff Collins (Anita); and his grandchildren, Alex Rooks (Raquel), Misty Hamrick (Stuart), Chase Grinnell, Tiffany Collins, Katie Childers (Chris), Austin Rutledge, Gregg Harrison and Michael Harrison.
