She was predeceased by : her parents, William Thomas Upton, Sr. and Mattie Lee Waddell Upton; her husband Gene Franklin; and her siblings, Lucille Hudson, W. T. "Bill" Upton, Sr., Cecil Upton, Odessa Moss, J. O. Upton, Russell Upton, Robert Upton and Inez Sorrells.

She is survived by : her children, Charlie Franklin, Jr. (Linda), Sissy Phillips (Steve) and Barry Franklin, Sr. (Anna); her grandchildren, Lyndsay Smithberger (Nick), Chelsey Franklin, Stephanie Clark (Tevin) and Barry Franklin II; and her great grandchildren, Nash Smithberger, Brooks Smithberger, Tylen Tayton and Lilliana Jean Clark. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Social distancing guidelines will be followed and facial covering are recommended.

“Irene and her family have been our most gracious, kind, and wonderful neighbors for more than 40 years. I will remain grateful having her as my friend. It will not be the same now. She would often stop to chat a few moments and always brought a happy laugh with her. To Charlie, Sissy, Barry, and all the family I want you to know you are in my prayers and continued thoughts.
