He is survived by: his son Kevin Matthews (Tonya); his grandchildren, Chandler McKelvey and Campbell McKelvey; and his siblings, Jerry Matthews (Cathy) and Glenda Gill. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
