She was predeceased by : her parents, Kenneth Luther Slaughter and Norma Jean Koone; her siblings, Syconda Vines, Keith Vines and Michael Vines; her grandparents, Elma Mathis Slaughter, Luther Slaughter, Mattie Mae Miller and Benjamin Miller; and her aunts, Dixie Slaughter, Pearlie Slaughter, Mavis Slaughter and Carolyn Slaughter.

She is survived by : her husband Wesley Ballard; her children, LaBriska Nicole Waddell (Matthew), Rachel Lynn Spurlock (David), Janice Marie Ballard and Stephen Wesley Ballard (Carmen); her brother Dale Lanier; her grandchildren, Patrick Ballard, Aaron Adams, Courtney Morrow, Heather Dunn, Harleigh Waddell, Ashely Waddell and Sterling Spurlock; and her cousins, Larry, Lynn Ezzell and Sylvia Pickett. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
