She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Clay Higgins, Sr. and Azzie Reeves Higgins; her brother Fred Clay Higgins, Jr.; her nephew Fred Clay "Trip" Higgins III; and her son-in-law J. Scott "Scotty" Tillery.
She is survived by: her husband W. Fairfax Mullen; her daughters, Ann Marie Tillery and Dr. Eve Mullen (Florian Pohl); her grandsons, Russell Tillery (Erika Vance Tillery) and Clayton Tillery; and her great grandchildren, Rhett Mullen Tillery and Tyson Beckett Tillery. She is also survived by Several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials in Marie's name be made to a church or charity of one's choice.
