He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Tankersley and Bessie O'Neal Tankersley; his son Mitchell Tankersley; and his sister Cathy Payne. He is survived by: his wife Janie Tankersley; his children, Billy Tankersley, Vanisia Gregoire (Nolan), Kimberley Tankersley and Katie Elliot (Tony); and his sister Carolyn Seabolt. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren.
