He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Gordy and Susie Williams Gordy; his wife Melissa Reynolds; his siblings, Geniva Songer, Lois Kernea, Herbert Gordy and Larry Gordy; and his nephew Scott Gordy.

He is survived by: his children, Patricia King (David), Michelle Fields and Tony Gordy; the mother of his children Catherine Dillingham; and his sister Juanita Gordy. He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
