Verna Savola Mathis Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Verna Savola Mathis (Chickamauga, Georgia), born in Bridgeport, Alabama, who passed away on December 11, 2022, at the age of 100, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, John Janeway and Ella Janeway; her husband W. B. Mathis (Bud); and her siblings, Violet, Vivian Janeway, Viola Janeway Colvin, Raymond, Roy, Rexie and Alton Janeway.
She is survived by: her children, Joy Caylor (Paul) and William Mathis (Patricia). She is also survived by six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Anchor of Hope Baptist Church at 2613 Lakeview Drive, where Verna was a devout member for many years.
