He was predeceased by: his parents, Virgil C. Scroggs and Hattie G. Scroggs (McCoy); and his siblings, Porter, Russell, Cleo, Frances and Carolyn.
He is survived by: his wife Lucia A. Ramey Scroggs; and his children, Tina Carrington (James), Robert J. (Sandy) and David W. (Hanna). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Bethlehem Baptist Church.
