He was predeceased by: his parents, JW Phillips and Shirley Phillips; and his son Joseph Lee Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Maryjane Phillips; his children, Chris Morgan (Mandy), Christa Spokes, Christy Smith, Anthony Freeman (Meg) and Michael Phillips; his siblings, James R. Phillips, Tim Phillips, Johnny Phillips (Sandy) and Lynn Phillips Crawford; and his niece Tara Simpson. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 18th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Henry Funeral Home (6833 Church St, Lithonia, GA 30058). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the Turner Hill Baptist Church Cemetery (3402 Turner Hill Rd, Stonecrest, GA 30038).
In lieu of flowers, those who wish may bring a Christmas ornament to honor Tony's love for the Christmas season.
