He was predeceased by: his parents, Barney Rice and Rosa Kelley Rice; his former wife Mary Belle Green Rice; his daughter Arlene Rice Speed; his siblings, Doyle Rice, Marvin Rice, Ford Rice, Freeman Rice, Dorothy Riddle and Ella Mae Franks; and his son-in-law Kenneth Brewer.
He is survived by: his wife Barbara Reed Rice; his children, Lynn Lovell (Doug), Peggy Brewer, James Reed and Vickie Owens (Clay); and his grandchildren, Ashley Cobb, Jonathan Lovell, Phillip Speed (Ashley), Jesse Owens, Everett Brewer (Crystal), Chris Brewer (Christina) and Justin Brewer (Kristy). He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Blue Valley Baptist Church (46 Cross St, Clayton, GA 30525). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, September 22nd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
