He was predeceased by: his parents, Jonathan Stanhope and Martha Ruth Owensby Bagwell; and his brothers, John Bagwell, James Bagwell and Volley Bagwell.

He is survived by: his sisters, Mayo Murrell, Linda Carter and Judy Cowart; and his pets, Pug and Sammy. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Flat Creek Baptist Church.
