He was predeceased by : his parents, John Lamar Pruitt and Sara Nickles Pruitt; and his brother Alan Leighton Pruitt of Clayton, GA.. He is survived by : his wife Carole Yancey Pruitt; his children, Kimberly Russell (Greg Russell), Sam Pruitt (David Hughes), Scott Pruitt (Connie Pruitt) and Carrie Pruitt; his brother John L. Pruitt (Andrea); and his sisters-in-law, Harriet Hagan Yancey, Deborah Yancey and JoAlice Ray. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in George's memory to the Smithgall Woods Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 2090 Cleveland, GA 30528.
