He is survived by: his sons, Allen Mitchell (Monica) of Coppell and Drew Mitchell (Tracy) of Cleveland, Georgia; his grandsons, Cole, Mason and Connor Mitchell; his stepsons, Bill Simpson (Donna) of Madison and Ryan Simpson (Nicole) of Franklin; his niece Melinda Holland (Gary) of French Lick, Indiana; and his nephew Clint Miller (Gail) of Jasper, Georgia..
He served as a board member for several civic organizations including the American Cancer Society and as President and standing member of the Rotary Club in both Norcross and Pooler, Georgia.
