He is survived by: his wife Shirley Highsmith; his children, Sherry, Sammy Reed, Marsha, Phil Laster, Marie Dick, Marvin Highsmith and Jan Merrifield; and his siblings, Grace Kirkland, Shirley Deems, Jack Highsmith, Billy, Nita Highsmith, Glenda Soles and Evelyn Corbett. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
