He was predeceased by: his grandparents, Sandford, Marie Gibson, Daniel Hoke Smith and Polly Marie Parker. He is survived by: his parents, Cleveland Smith and Vera Gibson Smith; his wife Bridget Smith; his children, Makayla Shipp (Ryann), Marissa Waters (Josh) and Zach Smith (Amber); his grandchildren, Vada, Vivian, Salem, Mattie and Luke; and his siblings, Theshia Smith, Rebecca Bunch (Gabriel), Christy Smith, David Haney and Kyle Jones. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Water for People in Sandy's honor.
