With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Virgil Eugene Holt of Cochran, Georgia, who passed away on June 28, 2025 at the age of 92. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Archie Roosevelt Holt and Alva Bollinger; his wife Nina Dell Holt; his siblings, Archie Roosevelt Holt Jr., Gerald W. Holt and Betty Jean Purser; and his half-sister Margarite Hamlin.
He is survived by: his daughter Debra Thursby (Randall) of Cochran, GA; his grandchildren, Michelle Evans (Brad Sirmons) of Culpeper, VA, Daniel Thursby (Krystina) of Youngsville, LA and Melissa Belflower (Chris) of Forsyth, GA; his great grandchildren, Emerson, Elizabeth, Emilia Belflower and Holt Thursby; and his friend Virgil. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 1st 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Mathis Funeral Home (151 E Dykes St, Cochran, GA 31014). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
