It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Barbara Maxey of Colbert, Georgia, born in Athens, Georgia, who passed away on September 22, 2023, at the age of 80, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by : her parents, James Bernard Summers, Sr. and Maggie Lynn McClain Summers; her former life partner Don Inman; her husband Richard Maxey; and her brother James Bernard Summers, Jr..

She is survived by : her son Ricky Bruce; her grandchildren, Ciarra Bruce, Carl LaRocque and Jason LaRocque; and her friend Lillian Stenbridge. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
