He was predeceased by: his parents, James F. Carter and Lillie Moon Carter; his son James Wallace Carter, Jr. (Anita); and his siblings, Joyce Carter Smith, Thelma Carlyse, William Homer Carter, Curtis Adam Carter and Earnest Gordon Carter.
He is survived by: his children, Nikki Carter Adair (Robert), Alvin Lawson (Mary) and Debbie Lawson Hobby (Jeff); his grandchildren, Shawn, Brice, Weston, Layla, Brady, Jesse Paul, Christopher, Kevin, Ezrah and Aleka; and his sister Janice Carter Sinquefield. He is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren, extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Banks Funeral Home (210 N Main St, Sylvester, GA 31791). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at 3:00 PM at the Banks Funeral Home Chapel (210 N Main St, Sylvester, GA 31791). A burial will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 at the Hillcrest Cemetery (701 S Isabella St, Sylvester, GA 31791).
