He was predeceased by: his parents, Tony Merritt and Doris Merritt. He is survived by: his fiancée Kathy Swartz; his children, Jonathan, Christy, Jamie, Carrie, Joel, Catherine, Carol, Carla, Caytlin and Charissa; and his siblings, Suzanne Downey, Mark Merritt and Valerie Pacheco. He is also survived by eight sons and daughters-in-law, 25 grandchildren.
