He was predeceased by: his parents, Lena Shoopman Russell and Ben Russell, Sr.; his daughter Connie; and his son-in-law Charlie Farmer. He is survived by: his wife Clara Yates Russell; his children, Pamela Woodard (Mike), Mike Finney (Peggy) and Michelle Russell (Roger); his grandchildren, Stephanie Campbell (Kenny), Brandy Royer (Justin), Sonya Whitmer (George), Jonathan Finney (Amanda), Justin Woodard (Ali), Matthew Finney (Kristina) and Lindsey Briggs (Tyler); his siblings, Joanne Jenkins of Texas and James Russell (Olivia) of Carrollton; and his stepbrothers, Wallace and Carl Ryker. He is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, and many special friends.

Ben was a familiar face in all Columbus schools, and he will be remembered for his many contributions to MCSD.
