With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Constance Marie Swearingen of Columbus, Georgia, born in Augusta, Georgia, who passed away on March 11, 2023 at the age of 104. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, William Henry and Frances Maria Lanier (Stevens). She is survived by: her husband John C. Swearingen; her siblings, William H. Lanier, Jr., James F. Lanier and Frances Lanier Whaley; her children, John C. Swearingen, Jr. (Suzi) of Columbus, GA, Constance Swearingen Brooks of Commerce, GA. and JoAnne Swearingen Schuerman (William) of Bloomfield Hills, MI; her grandchildren, Kerry Morrell (Michael) of Princeton, NJ, Caroline Latham (Chan) of Midland, GA, John Robert Swearingen of LaFayette, AL, Constance Lanier Brooks of Commerce, GA, Todd Brooks of Atlanta, GA, William Schuerman, Jr. (Stephanie) of Bethesda, MD, Katherine Lanier Schuerman of Beverly Hills, MI and Caroline Schuerman Alexander (Evan) of Northville, MI; her son-in-law Jerry Brooks of Commerce, GA; her great grandchildren, Vaux Morrell, Lily Morrell, Suzanna Latham, John Schuerman and Sophie Lanier Schuerman; her nephew John Lanier of Atlanta, GA; her niece Georgia Marsh of Raleigh, NC; and her caregiver Scarlet Keith. She is also survived by numerous other nieces, nephews.

The family requests, in lieu of flowers, that memorial contributions be made to First Baptist Church in Columbus, GA or may be made to the charity of choice.
