He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Scales Sr. and Elizabeth Scales (Sims); and his siblings, Jerome Scales, Tony Scales and Anetia Hunter.
He is survived by: his son Donald Keith Scales, Jr. (Kendre); his grandsons, Ian, Eli and Leo; his daughter Ciera Jayna LaDonna Scales; the mother of his children Greta Lavern Scales; and his brother Edgar Scales, Jr. (Barbara).
