It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Elia Nevarez-McCoy of Columbus, Georgia, born in Falfurrias, Texas, who passed away on September 10, 2022, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Ernesto Nevarez and Herminia Nevarez; her sisters, Isabel Guiterrez, Irma Isabeles and Gloria Duckworth; and her former husband Genaro Bernal.
She is survived by: her children, Julia Self (Ronald), David Bernal, Gloria Askew (Randy) and Sylvia Bernal (Doug Dickerson); her siblings, Enedelia Gomez (Ben), Elma Balboa (Hector), Ernesto Nevarez, Jr. (Birgit), David Nevarez (Sandra) and Daniel Nevarez; and her husband James B. McCoy. She is also survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
