He was predeceased by: his parents, B. F. Messer and Ellen Armstrong Messer; his sister Lynette Springman; and his grandson Jason Messer. He is survived by: his wife Mary Herring Messer of Columbus, GA; his sons, Danny P. Messer (Margo) of Waterloo, SC, David L. Messer of Columbus, GA and Patrick "Pat" Moore of Columbus, GA; his grandchildren, Corey Messer, David Fuller, Rebecca L. Moore and Conner Moore; and his great grandchildren, Metthias Fuller, Summer Jade Fuller, Lucas Messer and Finley Barnlund.

Flowers will be accepted but those who wish may make contributions to Columbus Hospice House at 7020 Moon Rd. Columbus, GA, 31907.
