He was predeceased by : his mother Iva Willene McGee Nelson. He is survived by : his father James Wallace Nelson; his siblings, Joyce Smartt, Marlene Madewell, James, Donnie, Billy and Jerry Nelson (Linda); and his grandchildren, Christian Mitchell, D. J. and Hunter Lewis. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 12:00 PM at the Mount Sinai Baptist Church Cemetery (2030 Wildwood Rd, McMinnville, TN 37110).
