With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Gene McCarty of Columbus, Georgia, born in Dothan, Alabama, who passed away on August 26, 2025 at the age of 95. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Fern Faye and Nellie Faye; and his siblings, Camille, Armand, Gail and David (late Helen Adams McCarty).

He is survived by: his wife Rosa Brasington McCarty; his brother Gibson McCarty; his children, Shirley McCarty Chaplin (Aldean), Sandra McCarty Fuller, Debbie McCarty and Alan McCarty (Cathy); his grandchildren, Stephen Jenkins (Stephanie), Phillip Chaplin, John Chaplin (Tara), Justin McCarty, Mary Margaret Bigham (Derek), Jack McCarty (Tatum) and Joshua McCarty; and his great grandchildren, Sarah Grace Jenkins, David Jeremiah Jenkins, Waylon Bigham, Winter McCarty, Boone Bigham, Salem McCarty, Murphy Bigham and Millie Bigham.
