As JoAnne departs from our midst, her spirit ascends to join the cosmic dance of stars, a shimmering constellation of memories that will forever grace the night sky of the hearts of those who loved JoAnne. Though JoAnne may no longer walk beside us, her legacy lives on — a testament to the enduring power of love to transcend the boundaries of time and space.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Lonza Upshaw (Clessie Lee Davis) and JoAnne; and her husband James Wells. She is survived by: her children, Alex Harmon and Holly Upshaw; her siblings, Roosevelt Upshaw, Shirley Upshaw and Barbara Upshaw; and her grandchildren, Sybera Porter, Mekhi Brooks and Skye Smith. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren, and a host of relatives.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Sconiers Funeral Home (836 5th Ave, Columbus, GA 31901).
