He is survived by: his family, Wake Forest, Barbara and John; his wife Barbara; his children, John D. Lyon, Jr. (Dolly) and Beth Murray (Tommy); his grandchildren, John D. Lyon III (Jackie), Lee Lee Paschal (David), Tommy Murray Jr. and Nolan Murray; his great grandchildren, Helen and Margaret Paschal; his siblings, Laura Damich (Carl) and H. G. "Bert" Lyon Jr. (Dyanne); and his siblings-in-law, Mary Lou Stephens (Grady) and John Chenault.
