He was predeceased by: his parents, Mary Eleanor Posey Taylor and Byrl Dene Taylor; and his brother James Byrl Taylor. He is survived by: his wife Sharmon McCarthy Taylor; his daughters, Jenny Taylor Adams (Philip), Merritt Taylor Kite (Kenny) and Meghan Taylor Blackmon (Dykes); his grandchildren, Philip Monroe Adams, III, Locke Weems Adams, Sara Eleanor "Sally" Adams, William Luke Carty (Kiara), John Thomas Carty, Sarah Kathryn "Kate" Carty Alexander (Zack), Mary Bright Blackmon, Sidney Dykes "Bo" Blackmon, Jr. and Elouise Fletcher "Loulie" Blackmon; his nieces and nephews, Russie Taylor Blue (Erin) and Cora Leeann Blue; his great-nephew Brooks Wyatt Blue; and his siblings, Gregory Dene Taylor and Cecilia Taylor Blue. He is also survived by "Pops" to his grandchildren, is remembered by his family.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 10:00 AM at the First Baptist Church of Columbus (212 12th St, Columbus, GA 31901). Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 10:45 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A reception will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
