He was predeceased by: his parents, Carmen R. Rivera and Pablo S. Rivera; and his sister Erma E. Register. He is survived by: his wife Karen Suzanne Barlow Rivera; his pet Lucy; his siblings, Pablo Rivera Jr., David A. Rivera, Kiki O. Rivera (Bobbie), Carmen R. Day (Mike) and Annie G. Smith (Gary); his sister-in-law Leinda Barlow; his niece Ashley Barlow Steiner; and his nephew Shaun H. Barlow (Jenny).

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The American Lung and Heart Association and PAWS Humane Society in Columbus, Georgia.
