He was predeceased by: his parents, Haywood Scovil and Murrie Haynes; his son Othell B. Winslett, Jr.; his granddaughter Raquel Constance Wilborn; and his siblings, Jamie Penkiss, Haywood Scovil, Jr. and Ruth Haynes.
He is survived by: his wife Gwendolyn Winslett; his son Carey Winslett (Stacy); his stepdaughters, Tiffany N. Winslett (Wilborn) and Shanna Winslett (Alexandria); his grandchildren, Marc Winslett, Dominique Winslett, Amelia Wilborn and Maximilian Wilborn; his siblings, Larry McNabb (Debbie), Darrell Scovil, Surmond Scovil, Jennifer Wilbert (Calvin), Vivian Allen (Larry) and Betty Boykin (Joe); his sister-in-law Gail Alexander; and his mother-in-law Betty Alexander. He is also survived by other relatives and friends.
Viewing was held on Monday, May 11th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A funeral service was held on Tuesday, May 12th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the C. T. Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home (1514 5th Ave, Phenix City, AL 36867).
