It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Rebecca Pearce Gilbert Duggan (Columbus, Georgia), who passed away on March 11, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her children, Rebecca Gilbert Chancellor and Albert Kirven Gilbert III; her grandsons, Alexander Clarendon Chancellor and Wickham Barders Chancellor; and her stepdaughter Cina Carolyn Smith.

She is survived by: her children, Susan Virginia Gilbert (Ron) of Columbus and Murphy Pearce Gilbert (Sabina) of Flat Rock, NC; her children-in-law, James Edgar Chancellor III (Kathy) of Columbus and Laurie Black Gilbert of Atlanta; her grandchildren, James Edgar Chancellor IV (Julie) of Columbus, Mary Rebecca Ramseur of Roswell, GA, Dr. Albert Kirven Gilbert IV (Dana) of Columbus, Kathleen Wells Chancellor of Columbus, Jane Alexander Gilbert of Bloomington, IN, Murphy Pearce Gilbert Jr. of Charleston, SC, Todd Marsh of Atlanta, Theresa Marsh Ferguson (Brian) of Atlanta, Jonathan Kadra Awad of Atlanta and Philip Watson Marsh of Seattle; her stepdaughter Julia Virginia Duggan of Missoula, MT; her son-in-law Andrew Jubal Smith of Mountain Rest, SC; and her grandchildren, Reid Carlton Smith, Benjamin McTier Casadonte and Carolyn Jean Casadonte. She is also survived by four great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the A.C. Chancellor Memorial Fund at the Community Foundation of Chattahoochee Valley, Columbus Hospice, or the First Baptist Church of Columbus.
