He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph David and Ella Mae Carlisle Winningham; and his siblings, Louise Kimsey, Juanita Wiggins, Robert and Joe D. Winningham.
He is survived by: his wife Annette Daniel Winningham; his children, Lisa Magoffin (Doug) of Centerville, Ohio and Richard L. Winningham, Jr. of Ukaih, California; his stepchildren, Cindy Burroughs (John) of Columbus and Joey Powell of Pensacola, Florida; and his brother Charles Winningham. He is also survived by eight grandchildren; five great grandchildren.
