She was predeceased by: her parents, Napoleon Gaines and Elizabeth Wright Gaines; and her spouse Dr. J. H. Flakes, Jr.. She is survived by: her children, Johnny H. Flakes, III, Merle J. Flakes and Sencira Flakes Williams; her daughters-in-law, Lillian G. Flakes and Jackie D. Flakes; her grandchildren, Braya J. Flakes, Christina E. Flakes, Catherine E. Flakes and Kevin C. Scott; and her great grandchildren, Robyn Bailey Flakes and Raigan Lee Flakes-Britt. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.
