He was predeceased by: his parents, Richmond Thomas (Grace Mattis) and Russell. He is survived by: his children, LaVon Thomas, Kendall Thomas, Jay Thomas and Shaloy Penrose; and his sisters, Virginia Benchley and Willadean Bishop. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren, and a host of relatives.
